Douglas Edwards is a contemporary painter based in Hamilton, Ontario. Edwards graduated from Ontario College of Art in 1979, also studying in Florence, Italy at off-campus studies and the Academy of Fine Art. Edwards specializes in landscape painting and continues to explore new territory in subject and style, and is always finding means to expand his field of expression. In speaking of his own work, Edwards writes:

“I have used color and light to express everything in my life. It is my way to deal with the happiness, sadness, grief, and healing of life and to try to reach serenity and fulfillment. Each painting brings me something new, as a chapter in a book or a pattern of thought and nature. I endeavor to share my expression of serenity on canvas.”

His paintings are represented in a number of public and private collections including the TSX, BCE, Manulife, Ontario Casino Corp., among others. Over the years, he has taught art courses at Sheridan College, the Leighton Center, Alberta, and Ontario College of Art and Design. He has exhibited his work extensively in Canada as well as shows in the United States, Sweden, England, and Japan.
