Item Details
Description
Two Brooks Atkinson Signed Letters. One is from 1954 and the other does not have the year. Both are signed by Brooks Atkinson using New York Times stationary. The letters are approx 8"x 11" and together they weigh 0.01lb. Both letters have creases due to storage and being placed into an envelope.

Brooks Atkinson (1894-1984) started at "The New York Times" as Editor of the Sunday literary section in 1922 and became the paper's drama critic in 1926. Except for a leave of absence to serve as a war correspondent in WWII, Atkinson remained in the position until 1960. His East of the Hudson was published in 1931. JOHN BARRYMORE had last performed on the stage in Hamlet eight years earlier in 1923. He returned to the stage in 1940 for 117 performances of My Dear Children, a new play directed by Otto Preminger.
