Gene And Rebecca Tobey (American, 1945-2006) Ca. 1999, "Rising Star 15/45", H 13.5" W 12" Depth 7" | on original marble base. Signed and numbered on underside. Having a deep red patina with patinated raised gold on black figure of a native American hunter on one shoulder and a salmon on the other. Like all of their works, "Rising Star" embodies the distinct aesthetic of the artists' collaboration. Specifically, Gene Tobey's Pueblo heritage melding with Rebecca Tobey's influence from abstract expressionism. Provenance: Property from a Cleveland, OH private collector. Purchased 7/18/99 McClure Gallery, Beaver Creek, CO.
