ROBERT GREAVES, MACCLESFIELD. A GEORGE III FIGURED MAHOGANY EIGHT DAY LONGCASE CLOCK ROBERT GREAVES, MACCLESFIELD. A GEORGE III FIGURED MAHOGANY EIGHT DAY LONGCASE CLOCK the elaborate hood with shaped swan-neck pediment inset with eglomise glass panels above a glazed ogee moulded arched door, tapering reeded brass capped columns and a shaped top full length figured trunk door enclosed by reeded quarter columns; the base with applied mould and fluted canted corners raised on bracket feet. The 14" arched brass dial with revolving moon phases, rococo spandrels and silvered chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic outer minute markings enclosing a florally engraved matted centre with concentric date hand and centre sweeping seconds hand fronting an eight-day weight driven movement with anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell. (233cm high)
