Description
Manufactured circa 1848-1866 for self-defense, these were very popular with Gold Rush miners heading to California as well as with Civil War soldiers. Barrel begins as an octagon at breech and tapers into a round contour. Back action lock is marked "H.E. Dimick" in block letters with floral engraving and 5 pointed stars as accents and borders. Breech is also marked in the same manner as the lock. Walnut stock with checkered grip and German silver mountings. CONDITION: Very good, with barrel and lock turned a gray-brown patina with scattered freckling. Stock has a repaired break at grip. German silver mountings are a mellow patina with light handling marks. Mechanically fine. Bore is dark with visible rifling.
