Description
SAM COOKE/JAMES BROWN
Music Poster (14" x 22.5")
Very Fine
WMCA/Paramount, 1964
What an incredible line-up this show had! Sam Cooke, James Brown, Bobby Rydell, Jackie Wilson, Leslie Gore, and the Four Seasons-the top artists of this time and place.
There are two pieces of cloth tape on the upper edge of the verso and some crimping in both upper corners.
On December 26, 1963, WMCA, with Jack Spector as the DJ, earned the distinction of being the first New York City radio station to play the Beatles' Capitol Records' single, "I Want to Hold Your Hand". Jack was part of a Top-10 group of deejays known as "the Good Guys." WMCA was an AM radio station in New York throughout the early 1960s before switching to talk radio by the 1970s. They would sponsor these Paramount Theater shows with the greatest musical stars of the day.
This lot will be auctioned on Thursday, April 18th. The auction will begin at 9:30am PST and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Note other lots in the auction may close on April 19th.
