A pair of George III enamel candlesticks, South Staffordshire, circa 1770
Of baluster form, painted with landscape vignettes in gilt scrollwork cartouches, all surrounded by raised gilt sprigs and birds on dark blue ground, gilt metal borders, the pierced detachable nozzles decorated in a similar style, the foot and middle mounted with gilt-metal bands, 27.5cm (some restoration) (2)

Condition
The sconces with restoration and overpainting, some renewed flaking visible, the interior cylinders of the sconces damaged, overpainting to the interior of the candleholders and the sconces, and wax dripping over the candlesticks, one of the candlesticks with more stabilising restoration to the foot and lower shaft visible under UV light.
