Description
A Group of Silver Cross and French War Medal, belonged to Ivan Andreyevich Kapustin, Officer of the Imperial Russian Army in the Engineers Corps. Cross, 37x33 mm., patinated Silver, convex and polished to the obverse, the reverse with raised inscription “?? / ??????? ?????? / 1918 ?. / 12/II — 5/V” and above the impressed award number “N. 302”; with loop and original suspension ring. French War Medal, 37x33 mm., Bronze, with the rare bar “ENGAGÉ VOLONTAIRE” mounted to the original ribbon.Together a group of most interesting documents, papers, photos etc. regarding this officer, one of the few survivors of the combatants on the “White” side in the steppes’ campaign, who could flee Russia and emigrate to Belgium.A group of the greatest historical interest, especially for being accompanied by a documentations adding the history of this already extremely rare decoration; excellent condition.Note: The cross was awarded in 1919 to all participants of the Steppe campaign under the command of General Popov. It is believed that around 1.200 men received the decoration, although the State Archives of the Russian Federation has an original list of recipients with 639 names. I RR!
