Provenance: Previously in the Collection of E. L. "Larry" Borenstein, New Orleans.
In 1916, Polish immigrants Nathan and Ida Handwerker opened their restaurant Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs at the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island. The recipe for their hot dogs was handed down from Ida's grandmother. As Coney Island became a center of entertainment with boardwalk, beach, side shows and amusement rides, Nathan's Famous became a favorite stop for visitors.
Noel Rockmore moved to Brooklyn where he lived near Coney Island, finding inspiration in the lively atmosphere of the amusement park.

Condition
No signs of past restorations. Surface dirt and toning of the varnish layer. Surface abrasions by edges; occasional surface marks throughout; diagonal surface mark mid left. Frame with separation corners, surface marks, nicks and abrasions.
