American Late Classical Bronze-Mounted Mahogany and Scagliola-Top Center Table
second quarter 19th century, school of Duncan Phyfe, New York, the circular top with a banded and parcel-gilt edge, and featuring a painted tondo of a castle with stone bridge, cattle and a herdsman with a dog, supported by a tapered, cylindrical and gilt-bronze ring and mounted to a triangular-form platform base, the underside bearing a Sotheby's New York sticker along with a scratched inscription "Sotheby's 400 III St. NYC, Negley, Middleburg VA"..

Condition
In "as found" condition. The scagliola top has wear and some hairline cracks. Structurally very sturdy. Minor wear and rubs to the gilding on the feet. Retains a rich finish and patina.
