Description
This wonderful 1850's red and green peony quilt is hand pieced, hand appliqued and hand quilted, with a double zigzag border.
It measures 96" X 96" and is in good condition, with light surface dirt and spotting in places, and no wear.
The quilting is remarkable, with straight line, feathered, and lattice designs quilted throughout at a tiny 12-14 stitches to the inch, with trapunto work (stuffed quilting) in places.
The back is white, the hand stitched binding is green, and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light.
