Itzchak Tarkay Pencil Signed Limited Edition "Fresh Flowers" Serigraph with provenance
Pencil Signed Itzchak Tarkay Serigraph. Edition 71/285
Itzchak Tarkay (1935-2012) was a renowned Israeli artist, celebrated for his distinctive style that seamlessly blended elements of Post-Impressionism and Art Nouveau. Born in Subotica, Yugoslavia, Tarkay and his family were sent to the Mathausen Concentration Camp by the Nazis during World War II, when he was only 9 years old. After the war, they immigrated to Israel, where Tarkay attended the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem and later, the Avni Institute of Art and Design in Tel Aviv.
Tarkay's art is known for its vibrant colors and fluid, almost dreamlike compositions. His most famous works often feature elegantly dressed women in leisurely poses, set in cafes or lounges, exuding a sense of contemplative serenity. These figures, while distinctly modern, also carry a hint of classicism, reminiscent of the works of Matisse and Toulouse-Lautrec.
Throughout his career, Tarkay held numerous exhibitions and his works were showcased in galleries and collections worldwide. His unique fusion of techniques and the emotional depth of his work have made him a favorite among collectors and a significant figure in contemporary Israeli art.
Visible: 37 x 28 1/2 in. (94 x 72.4 cm.), Frame: 49.3 x 40.3 in. (125.2 x 102.4 cm.)
