Three WWII NewsMaps from the End of the War and Post-VE Day, All 1945 Dated
Map
A collection of three oversized NewsMap posters relating to the end of the war in Europe and the war in the Pacific during the Second World War. All measure 47" x 35" when unfolded and date from February to August 1945. All of the posters are double-sided, featuring a map on one side and photographs, text, or additional maps on the other. With flattened folds and creasing, some which have started very small separations. Minor toning throughout but with bright colors. All are very attractive and in good condition.
Includes the following:
1. NewsMap, Volume III, No. 45B and 45F: "The Big Three Crimea Conference" (double-sided). U.S. Government Printing Office, Prepared and Distributed by Army Information Branch, February 26, 1945. One side features a map of the European War and a map of the Pacific War. The other side features a report on President Roosevelt, Prime Minister Churchill, and Marshal Stalin meeting to arrange peace and the destruction of fascism.
2. NewsMap, Volume IV, No. 8B and 8F: "Wear Them Correctly!" (double-sided). U.S. Government Printing Office, Prepared and Distributed by Army Information Branch, June 18, 1945. One side features a map of China and the Pacific islands, while the other outlines numerous difference service ribbons and how to wear them.
3. NewsMap, Volume IV, No. 17B and 17F: "Potsdam Briefs" (double-sided). U.S. Government Printing Office, Prepared and Distributed by Army Information Branch, August 13, 1945. A large map of Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Pacific is the background to a report on the Potsdam Briefs. The other side shows a large map of the island of Formosa.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
