Jubal A. Early Signed 1864 Forage Requisition Order

A forage requisition form signed by Confederate General Jubal A. Early. 1p, measuring 10.5" x 5.75", Headquarters Virginia, dated September 1864. Signed "JA Early Lt Genl." No. 32, a requisition form for forage for private horses used in Early's service for thirty days. Dating from September 1 -30, for 60 rations, 7lbs of corn, and 8lbs of hay. The document has been attractively framed with an informative plaque and a photograph of Early to the overall size of 24.75" x 17.5".
Accompanied by a Beckett LOA. With flattened folds and slightly rough edges. Minor toning and foxing throughout. Boldly signed.
Jubal Anderson Early 1816-1894) served in the CSA, accepting Confederate military commission as the American Civil War began. Early fought in the Eastern Theater throughout the conflict and commanded a division under Generals Stonewall Jackson and Richard S. Ewell. After the war, Early fled to Mexico, then Cuba and Canada, and upon returning to the United States took pride as an "unrepentant rebel." After the death of Robert E. Lee, Early delivered speeches establishing the Lost Cause of the Confederacy and cofounded the Southern Historical Society.
