Broadside for Port of Philadelphia Regulating Import Containers
Broadside
A broadside entitled "Dimensions of Staves and Heading for the Port of Philadelphia", stipulating the accepted size and type of wood for barrels/casks coming into the port. 1p, measuring 6.875" x 11.5", no date, Philadelphia, PA. Numbered 90 at top right and approved by Andrew Shuster, the Port's head inspector. Docketing throughout, possibly in Shuster's hand, noting the types of wood suitable for the various staves and headings (mainly any variant of oak or white oak). Exhibits general age toning and staining, with minor tearing at edges. Evidence of prior restoration on verso. Good to fair overall.
