Description
Several of lots 504 through 527 are part of a group of Russian items consigned by a prominent Cincinnati family. All may have been purchased from the Armand Hammer Sale of Imperial Russian items held at Marshall Field & Company in Chicago in July of 1933. Many have documentation from the Hammer Collection. Others do not but the all reportedly came from the Hammer Sale.
Russian silver cloisonné long handled kovsh displaying green flowerheads, colorful shaded vines and turquoise beadwork over a brackish stippled ground that extends over the handle. Gold wash surface. Height 1 1/2 inches by 5 3/4” long. Impressed with the left facing kokoshnik with the 84 standards and the cyrllic HC monogram, possibly for N.A. Sapozhnikov. Few flat enamel chips on the bowl.
