Importante fonte sull’Ordine di Malta, relativamente al ramo femminile dell’Ordine. Disputa sull’elezione a Priora del Monastero di Sijena, contestata da Isabella de Pomar. Viene confermata l’elezione di Francisca Moliner. Alcuni storici considerano il 1153, l’anno ufficiale della nascita del ramo femminile dell’Ordine: fu allora che Papa Eugenio III approvò la fondazione della comunità del monastero di Sijena da parte della regina Sancha d’Aragona, vedova di Alfonso II, e della figlia Dulce. Nacque così una delle più antiche comunità di monache della Cristianità. All’inizio esse erano esclusivamente parenti dei Cavalieri dell’Ordine di San Giovanni, con la missione specifica di pregare per tutti loro e per il Gran Maestro. Come negli altri monasteri, fin dai secoli precedenti esse venivano chiamate “Sorores”, come i cavalieri “Fratres”. Francisco de Rojas-Borja y Artés, 1604-1684, divenne arcivescovo di Tarragona nel 1653, in seguito vescovo di Avile nel 1663. Decisio VI, in: D. D. Important source on the Order of Malta, relating to the Order’s female branch. Dispute over the election as Prioress of the Sijena Monastery, contested by Isabella de Pomar. The election of Francisca Moliner is confirmed. Some historians give the year 1153 as the official date for the establishment of the Order’s female branch: it was then that Pope Eugene III approved the Sijena convent community, founded by Queen Sancha of Aragon, widow of Alfonso II, and her daughter Dulce. Thus one of the oldest communities of nuns in Christendom was born. At the beginning they were exclusively relatives of the Knights of the Order with the specific mission to pray for them all and for the Grand Master.
