Chinese Yuan Dynasty Blue and White Porcelain Carving Octagonal Meiping Vase. The porcelain potted into a traditional Meiping form vase, large, thick and tall potted, wide body on shoulder, slender neck easing to form narrow opening, flaring mouth rim, raised on octagonal foot base, with slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in blue and white color, depicted of lotus flowers blooms interspersed foliage and scrolling interlocking tendril. Lotus is one of the most significant flowers in the Chinese culture. It symbolizes the holy seat of Buddha. Because the flower rises from the mud and blooms in exquisite beauty it symbolizes perfection and purity of both the heart and mind.The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
