Harold Frank (American born in England, 1921-1995). "Peach Floral" oil on canvas, n.d. Signed on lower right. A gorgeous still life painted by Harold Frank. The composition features a gorgeous floral arrangement of roses, daisies, and other varieties in a voluminous white vase joined by three fruits, perhaps of the citrus variety, on the tabletop. The floral blossoms are rendered in soft hues of peach, pink, buttercup yellow, cornflower blue, and white with sprays of greenery - all surrounded by a bright halo of light. The lavish arrangement overflows with energy and movement, its countless flowers blossoming before our eyes in a radiant manner with beautiful passages enlivened by loose gestural brushstrokes, lyrical contouring lines, soft color washes as well as moments of thick impasto. Harold Frank studied art at the Art Students League in New York, the National Academy of Design, Pratt Institute, Chouinard Art Institute, and UCLA where he was a colleague of Richard Diebenkorn (American, 1922-1993), an artist who is oftentimes associated with Abstract Expressionism as well as a pioneer of the Bay Area Figurative Movement. In addition to Diebenkorn, Frank's influences include DeKooning, Picasso, Matisse, and Rouault. While he also created landscapes, non-objective abstract compositions, figures, and head studies, he frequently returned to still-lifes throughout his career.

Signed on lower right. Label on verso with artist, title, and price of $2250. Areas of craquelure and some age wear as shown. A few minor stains to the linen matte. Frame has minor scuffs/nicks here and there but is otherwise in overall good condition and fit with suspension wire.
