Description
India, Rajasthan, Mewar, 19th century. Ink, gouache, and gilt on paper, laid down on cardboard. Depicting a palace with different scenes from the life of Krishna showing him as a baby, young child, and adult, all within a red frame. Other figures depicted include a king surrounded by attendants, a female deity being ceremoniously washed by devotees, men and women swimming in a river, as well as the holy white bull Nandi.
Provenance: British trade. Acquired from a noted private collection in Scotland.
Condition: Good condition with wear, creasing, scratches, minor losses, small tears.
