Description
China, 1644-1661. Finely painted to the exterior in bright enamels of iron-red, emerald-green, and lemon-yellow, between underglaze-blue line borders, depicting a continuous band of foliate lozenge-form cartouches enclosing blossoming lotus, peony, chrysanthemum, and other flowers amid leafy scroll, all reserved on a cash-diapered ground, framed by bands of peony scroll, the neck with narrower bands of scroll and petals.
Provenance: French trade.
Condition: Good condition with some wear, minor firing irregularities, few hairline cracks to the body, rubbing and minor losses to enamels. The shoulder drilled with four small holes.
