Pre-Columbian Jadeite Male Kneeling Pendant. Age unknown. Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia, Tairona. Jadeite male pendant kneeling holding an offering on his lap. He has prominent facial features and wears a loin cloth. There is a small hole drilled at the top of the head and two holes drilled at the elbows potentially for additional decoration of feathers or beads. Pendants of this nature were worn during funeral ceremonies, then left in the tomb of the diseased. Similar to ones on display at the Museo del Ore in Bogota, Colombia. Size: 3 inches high.
