Ancient Pre-Columbian Jadeite Pendant with Skull c.200-900 AD. Size 2 3/4 inches high. Pre-Columbian, Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia, Tairona. A Jadeite male pendant kneeling holding a skull on his lap. He has prominent facial features, wears a geometric headdress and a geometric patterned lion cloth. There is a small hole drilled in the back of his head. Pendants of this nature were worn during funeral ceremonies, then left in the tomb of the diseased. Similar to ones on display at the Museo del Ore in Bogota, Colombia. Provenance: Private collection of Enrique Cardenas.
