Description
17th Century Christian Mold Church Cookie, Pottery or Gingerbread - Christ on the Cross. In the old world during the 17th Century Church's would use artistic molds to bake communion and other religious meaningful cookies, clays and gingerbread for Church Holidays. This is a cookie or clay that was made long ago with one of those molds. An old example of Christian symbolic baking. This piece measures 5 1/4" tall by 4 7/8" wide. Appears fragile but is still intact with a partial crack started at the top on the right. This is a very old mold cookie from the Schwabish Gmunder Antiquities Collection. This one was still in its original package. When I removed it it smelled of spice so we are leaning toward these being very old cookies.
