Rare stamped John Henry Stewart (1878-1953) Meansville, Georgia Five Gallon Churn. He was a noted potter in the area until the early 1930s, he was also a partner with JO Brown. This is a fine rich slip glazed churn and has one of his two known marks with this one being in large block stamp letters and is stamped at the top next to the handle, note this is the first with this stamp we have seen. For age 1900s the condition is very good with one chip above the handle and no cracks or repairs. Fresh example out of the Cleveland Georgia collection. Standing 17" Tall
