Mars, James. LIFE OF JAMES MARS, A SLAVE BORN AND SOLD IN CONNECTICUT. Written by himself. Harford: Press of Case, Lockwood & Company, 1867. "Fourth Edition," sewn as issued through three holes in original wrappers (front wrapper printed, back wrapper blank). AN USUALLY EARLY EDITION, many research libraries holding copies only of later editions. Although this copy is not clean either inside or out, and the front wrapper is slightly chipped and ruffled, it is a solid wholly complete copy with VERY EARLY PENCIL MARGINALIA including the name "Crayton | Creighton" (early reader?)
