A rare first edition printing of the 19th-century biographical narrative entitled, The Life of James Fisk, Jr. Written by Willoughby Jones, this biography describes the infamous life, crimes, and treacherous death of “Jubilee Jim” Fisk, a notorious robber baron during the American Gilded Age.
Following a life of vast immoral financial gain and frequent marital infidelity, James Fisk Jr. would earn numerous enemies. One such opponent was former business associate, Edward Stiles Stokes who, in collusion with Fisks former mistress, Josie Mansfield, tried to extort Fisk for money by threatening to expose his many illegal ventures. This conflict would lead to the eventual murder of Fisk by the hand of Stokes.
