Description
Dennis Luczak (20th century) original pen and ink illustration for an article titled "Indy--The Golden Brickyard," appearing in the May 1968 issue of Playboy magazine, on page 98, with the caption,"Last of the breed, this Offenhauser-Watson "roadster" won the 1964 Indianapolis race with A.J. Foyt driving. Designed to run only counterclockwise on the oval circuits, the Indy car evolved independently of what the rest of the world was doing. Suspension, braking and handling were primitive, but the Offenhauser engine, 50 years of development behind it, was superb--an indefatigable, virtually indestructible wonder."
