Provenance: Private collection, New Orleans, Louisiana.
By the mid-1940s, Walter Anderson was creating a series of woodblock prints based on fairy tales and folk stories. ìThe Frog Prince #1î draws on a German folk tale published in 1812 in Grimm's Fairy Tales. The print ìCinderella on Her Way to the Ballî was based on a folk tale that included thousands of versions that spread throughout the world.
