A SOLID SILVER GILT, ENAMEL AND HARDSTONE MOUNTED COFFEE SET, CHINESE FOR THE OTTOMAN MARKET
mid 20th century, in the Islamic style, comprising a coffee pot, six cups and a tray, all richly and profusely decorated with foliate chasing, enamelled flowerheads and foliage and set with turquoise cabochons, the coffee pot in the style of a Persian ewer, applied on both sides with an enamelled cat chasing butterflies amongst flowers, with a chased cover set with cabochons, with scrolling handle and spout, the cups similarly decorated, the tray with twin handles with champleve enamel and cabochons, hallmarked Chinese silver (stamped SILVER), approximately 3420 grams in weight overall,
