PROVENANCE:

William Worthing March (1940 - 2023) was the proud owner of a kennel club in Florida where he raised racing greyhounds in his early career. Later in life he became a jeweler and opened his own jewelry store. It was through this business that he was able to purchase from estates a collection of fine porcelains that have been consigned to us to sell at auction. During his career he had the opportunity to travel to many foreign countries also adding to his collection.

Chinese Qing Dynasty Qianlong Tea Dust Glazed Porcelain Bottle Vase. Potted in shape vase, thick and tall, globular lower body, cylindrical neck, close mouth rim, raised on a short small round foot base slight concave. Warm and uniform tea dust glaze applied to the surface, only the outer bottom is white glazed. Tea powder glaze is one of the important varieties of iron crystal glaze in ancient China. The Iridescent Green pale, gilt splashes and streaks characteristic of this glaze are described as yao bian, or transmutation glaze and resulting from transmutation of colloidal copper, iron, or other metallic materials into suffusions breaking up the glaze surface.The Under base bears a reign mark, a six seal script characters reign mark. Made in The Years of Qianlong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
