Lucille Ball 1911-1989 Circa 1880 Women in History Quilt. This circa 1880 basket quilt was chosen to represent Lucille Ball as I found it was a happy quilt and was her favorite color, RED. The quilt of 20 pieced blocks and 12 plain blocks is stunningly hand-pieced and hand-quilted. I have made the quilt in various colors, but this remains one of my favorites. The triangle borders on two sides are in keeping with quilts that were made to live on a bed. In researching her life, I realized that her childhood and adult life were not always what we perceived. She became the first woman inducted into the Television Academy's Hall of Fame and continued to entertain us with recordings of her zany antics. I truly do LOVE LUCY!
