Description
Nicely constructed table top desk model of one of the important small sailing ships of the U.S. Merchant Marine Fleet of the mid 19th century's golden age of sailing ships. Features twin wooden masts, navy and burgundy colored hull and decorated with a barn red colored stripe. The title plaque on the base mount reads "Brigantine Newsboy of Boston. Built 1854 in Owls Head, Maine. Sailing to Europe with New England products and to The West Indies". Mounted on a wooden base with inlaid marquetry design to the border, on a stepped rectangular base. Enclosed in a removable glass and metal frame. Measures 16 3/4" x 19 1/2" x 9". The vessel only measures 12" x 15 1/2" x 5 1/4". Signed ~ stamped / marked as stated above.
Condition: Good overall condition having normal surface wear. Estate fresh to the market.
