John Broadwood & Sons Rosewood Improved Semi-Grand Piano, c. 1830, London, of traditional form, with foliate carved brackets joined to cabochon carved tapering octagonal legs, with 73 keys, H.- 37 in., W.- 48 in., D.- 89 1/4 in.
Condition
Case and legs are structurally sound and in overall good condition with small scattered nicks, scratches and small wood patch and filler repairs scattered throughout. Central D key has a cut patch repair. Strings and most hammers appear intact. Central hammers and dampers are misaligned with wear to felt pads. The right pedal is not raised above the ground, so it cannot be depressed. White label insert is slightly warped with age marks. The wood below the pinblock on the left side is numbered "42." Keyboard cover with working lock and key.
