Native American, Southwestern United States, New Mexico, San Ildefonso Pueblo, ca. mid-20th century CE. Signed "Maria" on base. A hand-built blackware pottery vessel with twisted handles, abstract matte decorations within the basin, and highly burnished surfaces. The planar base is inscribed with "Maria," perhaps for Maria Montoya Poveka Martinez (1887 to 1980). Size: 7.875" L x 6.3" W x 2.3" H (20 cm x 16 cm x 5.8 cm)

Minor abrasions and nicks, otherwise intact and excellent. Great luster throughout. Signed "Maria" on base, but all other identifying information is abraded, perhaps intentionally.
