Description
Magna Graecia, Southern Italy, Messapian/Daunian, ca. 5th to 4th century BCE. A wheel-thrown pottery jug with a slender strap handle on the verso. The rim, neck, body, and handle are decorated with applied red-orange pigment to create a personalized presentation. Size: 5.8" L x 5.2" W x 6" H (14.7 cm x 13.2 cm x 15.2 cm)
Provenance: Private Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA collection; ex-private Maine, USA collection, since the 1950s
