Description
Cardinal Alessandro Albani, Pontificale Romanum Clementis VIII et Urbani PP. VIII, three volumes in one book, undated but likely 1741, Bruxellis [Brussels], Le Charlier Bibliopolam, hardcover, 8vo., original full calf, raised bands and gilt and leather title label, marbled endpapers, illustrated throughout with in-text woodcut prints, 743 pp., plus index, Latin text. Provenance: from the collection of Cardinal Luigi Raimondi (1912-1975), an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church. He served as prefect of the Vatican's Congregation for the Causes of Saints from his elevation to the cardinalate by Pope Paul VI in 1973 until his death two years later. Raimondi also served as the Apostolic Delegate to the United States from 1967 until his appointment to the Vatican post in Rome.
Condition
In fair condition, boards and hinges worn, but binding still secure; 1960s gift inscription in blue ink to front blank; possibly lacking the half-title. Merchandise will be packed and transported by the purchaser at their own risk and expense.
