Description
[BASEBALL]. Original International News Photos Photo of the 1954 World Series Starting Lineup for the Cleveland Indians, PSA Type I Authentic. [New York: International News Photos, 1954]. Black and white photo (7 x 9”) photo of the manager and nine players outside of the dugout. Typed caption taped to verso and with inkstamp on verso, photo a bit toned, one short marginal tear at upper edge, caption has been encapsulated in such a way as to be unreadable. Excellent. One of the best lineups in baseball history, this team had a 111-43 record to win the AL pennant by eight games. Hall of famer Al Lopez was manager, and several future hall of famers were on the roster, including: Early Wynn, Bob Lemon, Bob Feller, as well as such players as Larry Doby, Al Rosen, Al Smith, George Strickland, and Dave Philley. Despite their record regular season and their great players, the Atlanta Braves won the Series in six games. Encapsulated by PSA, Type I Authentic. From the Mark Rucker Collection.
