[BASEBALL]. Original International Newsreel Photo of John J. McGraw, “Stonewall” Jackson, and “Shanty” Hogan at Batting Practice PSA Type I Authentic. [Los Angeles: International Newsreel, April 8, 1938]. Black and white photo (8 x 10”) photo of New York Giants coach McGraw watching Jackson batting, with Hogan catching. With typed caption taped to rear, some pencil notes, paper residue, and inkstamp also on verso. Some toning, wrinkling, some marginal wear and a few short tears, creases. Very good. “NEW YORK GIANTS IN TRAINING / LOS ANGELES John J. McGraw in on the job during batting practice at Wrigley Field where the New York Giants are in training. Photo shows McGraw as he watches his boys step up to the plate to hit. “Stonewall” Jackson is at bat with “Shanty” Hogan catching.” John Joseph McGraw was a third baseman and manager. He played for the Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Cardinals, and New York Giants, and later managed for the Baltimore Orioles and New York Giants. A Baseball Hall of Fame inductee, he was a three-time World Series champion, and managed for a NL record 31 seasons. Travis Calvin “Stonewall” Jackson was a shortstop for the New York Giants; he was a World Series champion. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. James Francis “Shanty” Hogan was a catcher, playing for the Boston Braves, New York Giants, and Washington Senators. Encapsulated by PSA, Type I Authentic. From the Mark Rucker Collection.
