William E. Hentschel (American, 1892-1962) Circa 1940s, part of a series depicting farm animals, a tempera and ink painting on paper of a chicken. Hentschel studied at New York's Art Students' League and the Cincinnati Art Academy. He was a decorator and designer at Rookwood Pottery and taught at the Art Institute of Cincinnati.
