An antique Chinese foldable hand fan. Late Qing era, before 1912. The paper fan leaves are painted with a continuous scene of figures in a pavilion setting. Ebonized wood sticks are garnished with a multi-figure garden scene and floral ornaments. Golden loop on the rivet. The piece comes in a lacquered wooden fan box. The exterior is decorated with gilt vegetal decor and a garden scene. The inside of the lid is hand-painted with an exotic bird and roses.
