Description
1 black silk satin mourning dress w/ machine embroidered applique to faux reveres, skirt flatlined in taffeta w/ pinked ruffle, c. 1898, bodice B 36”, L 17”, skirt W 30”, L 43”, (6" tear left sleeve, few other small tears, wear & loose stitching around collar w/ 0.5” hole CB, varying shattering throughout, few small scuffs, wear to hem, cuff) good; 1 black on grey striped taffeta w/ black silk taffeta bias trim to cuff & knife pleated skirt ruffle, c. 1881, bodice B 32”, L 20”, skirt W 26”, L 42”, (some shattering esp. upper bodice & skirt, pinholes, minor discoloration, light wear to hem, 1 loose button) fair. Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum to benefit collections care, preservation and future acquisitions.
