Group of Four (4) Bakelite Accessories to Include a Belt, Belt Buckle, Mother-of-Pearl Inlaid Brooch and Pig Brooch by Martha Sleeper
For your consideration are (4) vintage bakelite items. All items have been tested and are guaranteed to be bakelite. This lot include:
1. Large Butterscotch Bakelite Pig Brooch by Martha Sleeper. Pig measures 2 1/2"(l) x 1 3/4"(h) and includes all original hardware which works as it should. Eye, nose and ears are hand-painted (a trademark of Martha Sleeper) and show only very small losses. Brooch in excellent vintage condition with no repair.
2. Red-Brown Bakelite Ring-Shaped Brooch with Mother-of-Pearl Inlay. Brooch measures 2" in diameter and is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. Normal wear commensurate with age and respectful use noted.
3. Two-Piece Belt Buckle Made of Green and Marbled Butterscotch Bakelite. When buckle is latched, it measures 3 1/2"(w) x 2(h). The buckle is secured by the hook and eye latch on its backside and it is attached to a belt by (2) elongated brackets at the end of each side of the buckle. Buckle is in excellent condition with no damage, missing pieces, corrosion of metal components or noted repair. Normal wear consistent with age and respectful use noted.
4. Apple Green Bakelite Belt with Textured Aluminum Links. Green bakelite have very small flecks of yellow in them that are only visible on close observation. Belt has (3) large green bakelite components - Two side panels and the buckle itself. The buckle is composed of separate and 'flexible' pieces of bakelite that are cut perfectly to fit together. Components are conjoined by hinges and pins (on reverse) that allow each piece to move and one of the the smaller trapezoidal pieces functions as the latch. All components are in excellent condition with no damage, breaks, missing pieces, corrosion of metal components or repairs. Light surface wear noted commensurate with age and respectful use. The main bakelite buckle, when latched, measures 4"(w) x 2"(h) and the (2) flanking bakelite panels measure 2 5/8"(w) x 1 5/8"(h) each. The total length of the belt is 35". The aluminum links have a hammered finish.
