(4to) 21.4x15.5 cm, 19th century mottled calf by Zaehnsdorf (signed on front free endpaper), rebacked with raised bands, morocco spine label, marbled endpapers, all edges stained yellow.Rare first Ogilby translation of æsop‘s Fables, basically the earliest obtainable edition in English. The illustrations by Francis Cleyn are detailed and rather original, sometimes introducing new details not found in traditional illustrations.
