Third novel in the Charlie Chan series, adapted into the 1929 film, an early talkie, with Warner Baxter, the immortal Lois Moran, Boris Karloff as Baxter's manservant, and Korean-American actor E.L. Park as P.I. Inspector Chan. Producer William Fox chose this adaptation to open his palatial Fox Theatre in San Francisco on June 28, 1929.
