Description
Embodied within this small but significant Viking bronze amulet is the ouroboros - a symbol of eternal cyclic renewal. The artistry captures two serpents eternally biting each other's tails, a motif that transcends cultures, expressing infinity and the unending cycle of life and death. Given its size, this piece was likely not intended as a bracelet but perhaps as a talisman or an ornament for clothing or weaponry, embodying the wearer's or owner's respect for the natural and spiritual world. In Norse mythology, such an image could be related to Jörmungandr, the great serpent encircling Midgard. Its detailed craftsmanship and superb condition make it a fascinating relic from the Viking Age, offering insight into the mythological and cultural world of the Norse people.
