Antique Chinese Huanghauli Tiered Food Box with Loop Handle, Brass Mounts and Original Locking Rod

Period of Manufacture: Qing Dynasty (1644-1911)
Dimensions of Box with Handle/Stand: 14 1/4"(w) x 7 7/8"(d) x 8 1/2"(h)
Dimensions of Tiered Box Only (w/o Handle): 13 3/8"(w) x 7 1/8"(d) x 6 5/16"(h)
Weight of Box: 6 pounds, 6 ounces
For your consideration is an antique Chinese huanghuali tiered picnic box. The box beautifully proportioned, comprising a cover and two deep trays - the top try having a full-sized, yet more shallow, insert to comprise the third tier. Boxes are set on a base frame supporting a rectangular handle flanked on the sides by standing spandrels, the handle and frame reinforced with metal mounts. The original rod which 'locks' the box onto the handled stand is included and functions properly. No markings noted.
Provenance: Descended through the family of US ARMY COL (Ret) Howard Bressler (1918-2012), of Kileen and San Antonio, Texas.
