Prussian officer's M1889 model infantry sword, 31 in. blade and 37 in. overall, with a black celluloid grip that is tightly wrapped with triple brass wire. Affixed to the grip is the Star of the Order of the Black Eagle. The brass pommel bears filigree designs and a profile view of Kaiser Wilhelm II. The user’s hand is well-protected by a brass hand guard in the shape of the Prussian eagle, accentuated by filigree designs. The straight blade bears a few nicks along the sharp edge, no maker marks. Housed within a steel scabbard with two suspension rings, with a gold portepee attached to the top ring. Regrettably the portepee is soiled, otherwise moderate rust to the scabbard and some light oxidation to the brass hand guard.
