Signed on the side, under the glaze: P.L.C. for Philibert Leon Couturier who worked at Haviland & Co. Atelier d'Auteuil. Stamped mark on the bottom: Haviland & Co. Limoges.

PROVENANCE: American collector.
CONDITION: Good condition with no damage or restoration.
NOTES / REFERENCES: Philbert Leon Couturier (1823-1901) was active and lived in France. Known as a painter, Couturier, studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris from 1844, and created numerous rural scenes in the Impressionist manner. He later worked at the Auteuil Studio of Haviland. While there Couturier mostly painted barnyard fowl or poultry, such as ducks, chickens, roosters and geese, as well as birds of prey.
