François Maury studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Marseille, where he graduated in 1880, winning the first prize for painting and drawing. He entered the Julian Academy in Paris. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists, where he became a member and the salon d'Automne in Montpellier, Marseille to Paris. He painted landscapes of his native Provence, Savoie and Paris.
